Functional Training at Knoxville Fitness Center Utilizes TRX System

Functional training is a high intensity workout that primes muscles for everyday activities such as lifting, lugging, squatting, bending, tugging and twisting. Functional training boosts your core, and a strong core improves your balance, stability and flexibility.

TRX, or Total Body Resistance Exercise, uses straps attached to a stationary point. The straps can be adjusted to change your position and increase or decrease the workload.

Functional training also utilizes plyometrics, which you might know by another name – jump training. Plyometrics involves brisk and repetitive movements such as jumps or hops. During your workout you might hop onto a step or jump onto a box or over cones. Plyometrics is a good functional training tool for games such as tennis or basketball.
